| The Check Engine Light is a Warning and a Nightmare
A car wash can set off your check engine light and it may stay on for a few days causing you concern about the condition of your engine. The air intake system on your vehicle's engine has a sensor that measures the air coming in and when you go through the dryer of a car wash that air passes the sensor. It tells the vehicle's computer something is wrong and your check engine light not only goes on but flashes for while. It may take a couple of days before your light goes out. Meanwhile, you are left to wonder if you have engine problems. The sensors in your vehicle acted like a thermometer for a person with an illness. The thermometer tells you that the patient has a temperature. It doesn't tell what the illness is, it is just one symptom that alerts the care giver to a problem. If the patient has a temperature of 104 degrees, you call the doctor.
